Monistrol de Montserrat moves this weekend to the 16th century, the time when the bubonic plague wreaked havoc. Tomorrow and Sunday, the Festa dels Romeus is celebrated, which makes one of the most unique stages of the past of the population relive with the theatricalization of these historical events.
The recreations will fill the streets of the old town of Monistrol de Montserrat tomorrow and Sunday from 2/4 of 11 am to 8 pm. After last year’s break, when the pandemic forced the party to be suspended, this year the Romeoes will be able to celebrate with some normality, with compliance with covid measures and still with some impediments, such as the suppression of some scenes.
Other elements that make up the set of the Festa dels Romeus are the traditional music performed by Sübitus, and the stalls of food and craft products. This market will be located in Plaça de la Font Gran and will have about fifteen stops. In this space, minstrels, pilgrims, remedies, farmers and bourgeois, among other characters, will interact with the public.
