The Bruc Simbaler

The historical fact from which this well-known legend starts is the defeat of the French troops commanded by General Schwartz on 6 and 14 June 1808 before the troops of neighboring villages and regular soldiers. It was the first defeat suffered by French troops.

The young Isidre Llussà, born in Santpedor, rested at the foot of some rocks together with his companions of sometent when the fall of some stones made his drum sound. This made them suspect of the presence of the French and they could quickly surprise them by the rearguard. The French troops, who were heading to Manresa, rushed to abandon the mountain surprised by the presence of the Catalans and above all by the noise of the timbal touched by the Isidre and amplified by the echo of the mountain.
